The Certificate may be used to certify the vehicle’s status as a Vehicle of Historical Interest, to recognize it as a Classic or Future Classic—particularly when dealing with insurance companies in the event of a dispute—and also allows the vehicle to operate in Low-Emission Zones. According to the new Decree-Law 144/2017, all vehicles over 30 years old that are certified by the Caramulo Museum as Vehicles of Historical Interest are now exempt from the Mandatory Annual Inspection (IPO) during the certification’s validity period (4 years), and based on this certification, an exemption from the Vehicle Tax (IUC) may be requested from the tax authority. Request updated information on certification dates and locations.
We also offer insurance packages for classic, pre-classic, and contemporary cars at very attractive rates for ARCP members.

The Alfa Romeo Club Portugal is celebrating its 20th anniversary
The club’s origins date back to November 18, 2000, when four of the future founders (Orlando Ferreira, Carlos Vaz, João Feijó, and Carlos Revez) met for the first time in Lisbon to get to know each other in person, following several weeks of email exchanges centered on a very special passion: Alfa Romeo. Following this small but symbolic meeting, a much larger movement began to take shape with the goal of organizing a first road trip. Those were exhilarating days… emails, phone calls, and contacts were coming in nonstop; it seemed that suddenly the Alfista “serpent” was beginning to awaken, embodied by the vast legion of fans of the House of the Biscione.
The first meetup was thus organized on April 1 in the Bucelas area, with 30 Alfas already in attendance. From then on, things really took off like a snowball—every day brought more Alfa enthusiasts, more ideas, and more projects. That year, this group—still without a defined name but already taking shape as the “Alfista Club”—organized a wide range of trips: Arrábida, Vila de Rei, Jarama (at the invitation of the Alfa Romeo Club of Spain), Caldas da Rainha, Caramulo, and Ribatejo.
This intense activity served to lay the groundwork and solidify the foundation for what would officially be established on November 27, 2001 (the date of the deed of incorporation) as the “Clube Alfista de Portugal,” with the following officers serving as its founders: Carlos Vaz (President), Miguel Menezes (Vice President), Orlando Ferreira, Pedro Vicente, João Feijó, João Paulo Martinho, Fernando Taborda, Carlos Revez, José Guardado, Jorge Carita, Nuno Ferreira, Rui Martins, Adalberto Melim, and Rui Bettencourt.
In March 2003, the Alfa Romeo importer in Portugal officially recognized and registered the Alfa Romeo Club of Portugal as the first and only Alfa Romeo club in Portugal.
The Alfa Romeo Club of Portugal / Clube Alfista de Portugal – ARCP is dedicated to promoting automotive and cultural events, as well as the exchange of technical knowledge and information among enthusiasts of the brand, with the aim of raising awareness of and preserving the legacy of Alfa Romeo and its achievements in the automotive world.
Several times a year, we organize informal gatherings in the North, Center, West, and South (Lisbon area) of Portugal. The Club organizes the annual Alfa Day, as well as various static events in Lisbon and Porto and dynamic events throughout the country, and, together with other Italian car clubs, the “Passeio dos Italianos.”.
Every two years, ARCP organizes a major event that travels to various regions of Portugal in Alfa Romeos—the Giro Alfisti Portogallo. We also occasionally host Cafés Italianos (informal seminars featuring both past and present legends of Portuguese motorsports), various drives throughout the year, and the Ladies CUP (a women’s trophy). Of course, we hold our regular meet-and-greets (cars and coffee) mainly in Lisbon and Porto.
In 2018, a group of 28 members visited Arese for the 1000 Miglia and toured the Alfa Romeo Museum with Mr. Marco Fazio.
The club has its own headquarters, website, Instagram account, YouTube channel, and Facebook pages (Alfa Romeo Clube de Portugal and Giro Alfisti Portogallo).
Our club does not discriminate based on the age, history, or rarity of an Alfa Romeo. All Alfa Romeo enthusiasts are welcome.
On June 24, 1910, a new company was founded in Milan under the name A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili). A few years later, the Neapolitan entrepreneur Nicola Romeo took over the company and changed its name to Alfa Romeo.
